At the origin of everything
Inspired by the journey of explorer Jérôme Poncet, mountain guide Jean Bouchet spent three to four months a year for two decades discovering and exploring, on skis or on foot, many of the most beautiful routes in the high latitudes of both hemispheres.
Life events and the unlikely success of a south-north crossing of South Georgia in 2012 led Jean to cross paths with Jérôme, who became his mentor and took him on three southern summer seasons to the most remote and inaccessible territories of Antarctica.
This incredible experience gave rise to a project: KAMAK, a sailing boat with a sturdy hull and powerful engine, which, since its arrival in the Arctic landscape in 2018, has carried out numerous explorations with skiers, climbers, scientists and simply people who are curious and eager to discover these territories in the least invasive way possible.

About us
KAMAK is currently the only vessel in the polar fleet to be entirely managed by a guide for and at the service of guides and other professionals, as well as any enthusiastic individuals wishing to experience a unique adventure in a small structure steeped in authentic history.
KAMAK is also a human adventure for all those who have supported the project, a collective of enthusiasts of high mountain climbing, sailing and maritime exploration in the high latitudes of the Arctic. Thanks to their commitment and that of founder Jean, KAMAK has become a unique exploration tool and a source of inspiration for those who have embarked on it.

Our approach
At KAMAK Expeditions, our approach is to prioritise flexibility with broadly defined itineraries that can be adapted to the weather, wind conditions and the wishes and motivations of our passengers.
Each expedition also seeks to get off the beaten track, which can sometimes become very crowded even in high latitudes.
The experience of the KAMAK team allows us to promise you the opportunity to discover and explore particularly unspoilt places!
