The Iceland-Greenland Programme
- Embarkation in Iceland: The adventure begins in Ísafjörður, in north-western Iceland, where the crew welcomes you aboard the KAMAK. Once you’ve settled into your cabins and attended the safety briefings, the yacht sets sail on the very first evening, weather permitting.
- The Hornstrandir Peninsula: Before setting sail, a first stop takes the group to this rugged and isolated corner of Iceland. A hike through cliffs and moorland sets the tone for the trip.
- Crossing the Denmark Strait: The KAMAK then sets course westwards for two days of offshore sailing. This is the highlight of the passage from the Atlantic to the Arctic, marked by the appearance of the first giant icebergs.
- Exploring Greenland: Once the Greenlandic coast is reached, the journey unfolds over 18 days at nature’s pace. Each day combines coastal sailing with ever-changing anchorages. Participants disembark in zodiacs to explore wild landscapes on foot or by kayak, in search of the local (discreet) wildlife but above all to discover varied and spectacular scenery. Evenings on board are spent relaxing and socialising, whilst the final nights of the trip sometimes offer the spectacle of the Northern Lights.
- The return: The expedition ends at the small Constable Point airfield. A Norlandair flight takes you back to Iceland, bringing this timeless journey to a close.
