Greenland – Sailing Exploration
Embark on an adventure to Greenland by sailboat to discover icebergs and stars

An exceptional 2026 season
For several years, KAMAK has been making its way to the far reaches of the Arctic Ocean.
This time, he invites you to look up: to discover, beyond the fjords and glaciers, the sky itself.
In the Inuit language, Qilak refers to the celestial vault. In Greenland, it unfolds in all its purity: no stray light, crystalline air, and sometimes the dance of the northern lights.
The summer of 2026 will see the launch of extraordinary expeditions. In partnership with the Hautes-Alpes Observatory and its director Marc Bretton, KAMAK will combine exploration of the earth with observation of the sky.
KAMAK Expeditions offers two trips for 2026, featuring icebergs and stars:
- August 10 to 31: Total eclipse & exploration
- September 3 to 21: Discovery, exploration, and astronomy

A sailboat designed for Arctic exploration
Since its creation in 2018 under the impetus of Jean Bouchet , high mountain guide, KAMAK Expeditions explores the most remote fjords of the Arctic, often without any prior information.
Driven by a spirit of discovery and a love for the polar environment, the KAMAK project combines rigor, autonomy and wonder .
Thanks to years of exploration in the fjords of Scoresby Sund, the crew now offers three expeditions to Greenland combining sailing, hiking, kayaking and Arctic sky observation.
Who are these expeditions intended for?
KAMAK expeditions are for those who wish to experience the Far North differently — far from timed tourism and standardized itineraries.
They prioritize immersion, slowness, observation, and encounters.
To fully enjoy the trip, you should be able to walk for 4 to 5 hours on varied terrain (grass, rocks, scree). Activities are done in small groups: easy walks, glacier hikes, kayak trips, and nighttime observations, weather permitting.
Each passenger is free to participate in the day’s excursions or not. On board, one can also choose to contemplate, fish, cook, or simply listen to the silence of the fjord.
Nothing is set in stone: the ice, the sea and our emotions dictate the program.

Rare Nordic adventures, far from the crowded routes
Imagine skiing beyond the Arctic Circle, in a raw and silent Norway, where the mountains plunge directly into the sea and where your refuge each night is none other than a comfortable expedition sailboat, carefully restored and designed to fully experience the high latitudes.
Far from the areas that have become too crowded, we take you on a unique itinerant journey, shaped by the experience of the KAMAK crew and Jean, its initiator, familiar with high latitudes since 1998.
Here, nothing is standardized: it’s a journey where you follow the conditions, the light, the snow — and the intuition born from decades spent in the north.
A common thread: sailing, skiing, exploring
Our journey begins after boarding; day after day, progress is made naturally:
- navigation between fjords and archipelagos,
- ascents of peaks chosen for their elegance, isolation or snow quality,
- anchoring each night in a calm bay, at the foot of the next day’s objective.
Days of unstable weather will turn into days of sailing — often the most memorable — where you observe the mountains from the sea, where you fish, where the Arctic light changes everything.
In the evening, discussions around the table allow us to collectively decide on the best choice for the next day.
Sometimes there are marine animals, orcas, whales, seals, but also sea eagles, moose, ptarmigans and Arctic foxes.
