Early July: From Spitsbergen to Iceland – The Midnight Sun Route

In early July, at the height of the polar summer, KAMAK Expeditions offers an extraordinary voyage from Spitsbergen (departing from Longyearbyen) to the fjords of northern Iceland (arriving in Akureyri). Taking place around the summer solstice, this voyage is a unique maritime experience: a crossing of the Greenland Sea bathed in continuous light that never fades.

Leaving the icy landscapes of the 78th parallel north to head down towards the Icelandic coast under the midnight sun is to treat yourself to a pure and surreal voyage, where time stands still.

Who is this solstice expedition crossing intended for?

  • Sailors who love otherworldly atmospheres: For those who want to experience the magic of night-free watches. Sailing beneath the low, golden light at 2 a.m. offers an absolutely magical sense of gliding and contemplation.
  • Wildlife enthusiasts and offshore sailing fans: This sea route is a veritable corridor of life. It’s the perfect time to spot large cetaceans (blue whales, fin whales), colonies of seabirds and the last drifting icebergs in a mystical atmosphere.
  • KAMAK’s curious skippers and sailors: The perfect opportunity to test Kamak’s offshore performance on a long, open Arctic crossing, whilst enjoying exceptional comfort and visibility from our sheltered wheelhouse.

The atmosphere on board: A complete escape from the constraints of time. Carried along by the energy of the perpetual daylight, the crew lives to the rhythm of the sea, weather discussions and contemplative watches. The highlight? The majestic entry into Eyjafjörður, Iceland’s longest fjord, before mooring in Akureyri after miles of open sea.

Set sail on the journey of the endless day. Join the KAMAK crew in early July and experience one of the most beautiful deep-sea voyages in the Arctic.
